Puppy Training in Raleigh & Durham, NC

Start Off on the Right Paw

Puppies are adorable, but the biting, jumping, pulling on the leash, and endless energy can quickly become overwhelming. Imagine enjoying a walk with your puppy instead of being dragged down the sidewalk, or welcoming guests without worrying about your puppy jumping all over them.

At Off Leash K9 Training Raleigh/Durham, our puppy training in Raleigh, NC focuses on building good habits from the very beginning. We teach you how to communicate clearly with your puppy while introducing essential skills like name recognition, leash manners, crate training, house manners, and safe socialization.

And we don’t just practice in a quiet room. Our puppy training sessions take place at local parks and public spaces throughout the Raleigh area, where your puppy can experience new sights, sounds, people, and everyday distractions at an age-appropriate pace.

For over a decade, we’ve helped Raleigh-area puppy owners navigate everything from playful nipping and jumping to establishing routines and building confidence. Just as importantly, we’ll show you how to reinforce those lessons at home, so the progress continues between training sessions.

The goal isn’t just a well-behaved puppy today. It’s building the foundation for a confident, well-mannered adult dog tomorrow.

How Our Puppy Programs Work

Your puppy gets structured, age-appropriate training with consistent guidance and chances to practice new skills in everyday situations. With puppy training Raleigh NC, early lessons focus on safe socialization, crate and house manners, leash foundations, and name recognition.

Training does not stop when the formal lesson ends. From waiting politely at doors to walking through busy public spaces, your puppy practices manners in the kinds of environments you will visit together.

Sessions meet at parks and public places, so your puppy learns to listen around real-world sights, sounds, and distractions β€” not just in a quiet room.

You will learn exactly how to practice at home between sessions. Because lasting results depend on more than what your puppy learns with us β€” they depend on what you can confidently keep practicing at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start training my puppy?

You can start as soon as your puppy comes home. The first months are when puppies learn fastest, so early lessons focus on socialization done safely, name recognition, crate and house manners, leash foundations, and setting routines β€” building good habits before bad ones take hold.

The $100 Puppy Training Consultation gives you and your new pup a kickstart. We will cover early socialization done safely, how to start crate and house manners, setting routines, leash foundations, and name recognition β€” and help you choose the right next program for your puppy.

Sessions meet at parks and public places around Raleigh and Durham, so your puppy learns to listen around real-world sights, sounds, and distractions. Sessions do not take place at your home, and there is no training facility at our Coley Rd address β€” that is our business mailing address. Prefer to start by phone? The Virtual Puppy Plan is a 60-minute session from wherever you are.

Early lessons focus on socialization done safely, crate and house manners, leash foundations, name recognition and setting daily routines β€” plus guidance for nipping and jumping. You will also learn how to practice at home between sessions, so good habits keep growing after each lesson ends.

Just bring your puppy on a standard leash, plus some small, high-value treats. Your trainer will let you know if anything else is needed for a specific session. For the Virtual Puppy Plan, all you need is your phone.

Puppy programs build the foundations first. As your puppy grows, most owners move into Basic Marker Mastery (a 4-week marker and clicker program) and at 5.5 months for most pups you can start formalized obedience training such as Basic and Advanced Obedience or our two week board and train.
